Next Adventure - Crochet Earrings

Ok, so my sister Karla, the Diva that she is, had gone all Erykah Badu and cut off all of her hair. That prompted her to focus on earrings. In her shopping travels, she came across some crocheted earrings. Being the avid crocheter that I have come to be, she brought the idea up to me to make her some - something that had never crossed my mind. In stores I always look for books at patterns that are new and different but I have never seen earrings other than in beading books. So I mosey on over to my fav free pattern site, crochetpatterncentral.com, and look up 'earrings'. Lo and behind there were more patterns that I ever expected!! Most were rather themey, but others were really cute. So here are some that I have done (added beads to some just to flash it up a bit) using patterns found on crochetpatterncentral.com. If you want the pattern, I can point you to it, otherwise, just enjoy! Hopefully my next post will contain earring patterns that I have created myself modeled by that Diva Karla!!

First Time's A Charm

Ok, so this is my first run at this blog thing so let's hope for the best, here. I am starting this blog for several reasons, the most important being to showcase items that I have crocheted from patterns found across my travels that I will be happy to make for you! Some of these patterns are from other crocheters I have found on the internet, some are from books and some (only a few at this point), are just some stuff that flew out of my head.

A little background on me: My mother taught me to crochet when I was 11 years old. I didn't know it at the time, but the Granny Square blanket pattern she taught me was NOT the extent of crochet. It wasn't until I reached college when a friend showed me something she was crocheting that I realized that there was more to crochet than the double-crochet Granny Square my mother taught me. Go figure!! Being the eternal student that I am, I went and bought a book...that book lead me to buy different yarn and that yarn exposed me to various sizes of hooks...A WHOLE NEW WORLD!! So, for the past 4 or so years I have been teaching myself to read patterns, execute more challenging techniques and gainging the skill and confidence to venture out into the world of fashion crochet. My goal is to one day write my very own 'big deal' pattern!!!

My friends and family have been awesome support in this venture, so I dedicate the beginning of this now 'documented' journey to them! I am sharing a few pieces just to get me started with this blog thing, but you can expect to see more pictures, content and maybe even commentary along the way! lol Hope you enjoy!
